BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's tennis team opened the 2023-24 season at the rain-shortened Husky Invitational over the weekend. The Huskies picked up seven wins between the doubles and singles flights.

Bloomsburg notched a pair of wins in doubles.
Iu Casamitjana (Igualada, Spain/Escola Pia Igualada) and
Landon Wall (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca High School) picked up a 6-4 win against Mercyhurst in flight C.

The duo
Sergio Dilan (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cedin) and
Vishesh Patel (Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India/Asia English School) earned a 7-6 victory over Mercyhurst. Dilan and Patel each picked up a single win over the weekend. Patel won 7-5,6-4 in the first round of flight B while Dilan picked up a victory in the opening matchup of flight C.

Denis Dementev (Saint-Petersburg, Russia) earned a pair of wins in flight A, winning 6-3, 7-5 in round one before a 6-4, 6-3 victory in round two.

Albert Martin (Barcelona/Instituto Menendez y Pelayo) won 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 in the opening match of flight A.

The Huskies are back in action on Thursday, September 14 for the start of the ITA Regional Championships. The tournament will run from Thursday to Sunday at the Burt Reese Tennis Center.
