LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - After No. 18 Bloomsburg men's soccer picked up a pair of 4-0 victories at Steph Pettit Stadium last week, Patrick Walsh (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) is the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the Week, as revealed by the conference Monday afternoon.
Walsh has made decisive contributions on both ends of the field. The defender recorded his second multi-goal game of the season in the Huskies' 4-0 win against Dominican (NY) and helped extend the team's current winning streak to 11 games and shutout streak to seven.Â
Walsh, Bloomsburg's leading goal scorer with seven, matched his career-best point total set during his all-conference 2022 campaign. The senior entered the top 10 for goals in a season following the midweek performance. In addition to his offensive contributions, the Huskies' defensive form has improved with Walsh's presence along the backline. Until the first half against Georgian Court, Walsh and company prevented opponents from recording a shot on target for over 317 minutes of game time. Walsh and the Bloomsburg defense additionally were instrumental in keeping one of the nation's top goal scorers, Georgian Court's Gijs van Eif, off the scoreboard.
For the second time in three seasons under head coach Mark Bassett, Walsh and the Huskies secured the No. 1 seed in the PSAC East and will host the PSAC Tournament championship weekend, beginning Friday, November 15.
The Huskies wrap up the regular season with their final conference game of the season. The team is on the road Friday, November 8, at 7:00 p.m. for a matchup with Millersville.
