Box Score HERSHEY, Pa. - The Bloomsburg men's tennis team faced a tough West Virginia Wesleyan team Friday afternoon. The Huskies gave the Bobcats nine strong matches but fell 4-3 in non-conference action.
Landon Wall (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca High School) and
Denis Dementev (Saint-Petersburg, Russia/) prevented the sweep in the doubles matches with a 7-6 (7-3) win at No. 3 doubles.
Dementev picked up his second win of the day with a decisive 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles.
Albert Martin (Barcelona/Instituto Menendez y Pelayo) got the best of his opponent at No. 3 singles as he dropped the first set 6-3 but came back for a 6-4 win in set two and a 10-7 win in the tie break.
Iu Casamitjana (Igualada, Spain/Escola Pia Igualada) earned a hard-fought win at No. 5 singles. After picking up a 7-5 in the first set, Casamitjana dropped the second set 6-0. The sophomore came back for a 10-6 win in the tie break for the Huskies' third team point.
The Huskies will get back to action on Saturday, March 2 when Bloomsburg takes on Bucknell in Williamsport, Pa.
