LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - For a spectacular individual performance for the Huskies on Saturday, junior forward Anika Krasnai (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) is the PSAC East Athlete of the Week.
Krasnai's heroics for No. 20 Bloomsburg women's soccer came in the final six minutes of Saturday's PSAC contest against Millersville, with the junior recording a goal and an assist in two minutes. After Millersville took a late 1-0 lead, Krasnai delivered the game-tying goal for the Huskies on the team's next offensive possession with a hard-driven spot from her preferred spot along the right wing. Moments later, Krasnai came through for Bloomsburg again, this time turning into a creative outlet on the assist that set up Emma Wilkinson (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) for the game-winning score to celebrate Senior Day.Â
Krasnai's award marks four weekly honors from the PSAC this week, joining Alexa Arrigale (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Regional) in garnering athlete of the week honors, while Samantha Merklin (Effort, Pa./Pleasant Valley) has twice been named Defensive Athlete of the Week. With the two wins in conference play last week, Bloomsburg currently is 8-2-2 on the season with a 5-2-2 mark in conference play.
The Huskies get a well-deserved break in the action this week before returning to Steph Pettit Stadium on Wednesday, October 22, at 7:00 p.m. against East Stroudsburg.Â
