KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Bloomsburg women's soccer team sits at No. 18 in the latest release of the United Soccer Coaches Division II National Poll Tuesday afternoon after going 2-0 in PSAC action and moving to 8-2-2 on the season. The Huskies additionally held their position as the second-ranked team in the Atlantic Region.
The ranking for Bloomsburg women's soccer is the highest since the 2022 season. The Huskies are inside the national top-20 in the month of October for the first time since the 2019 campaign.
Bloomsburg began the week earning a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Shippensburg on Wednesday. After a scoreless first half, the Huskies broke through in the second half with a goal from Sydney Donovan (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink). Bloomsburg held firm defensively to come away with the win and the shutout. On Saturday, the Huskies prevailed following a late goal from Millersville to grab a 2-1 victory over the Marauders. Anika Krasnai (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) was the catalyst in the winning effort tying the game less than 30 seconds later before setting up Emma Wilkinson (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) for the game-winning goal after another 90 seconds.Â
For her game-winning efforts against Millersville, junior forward Krasnai received PSAC East Athlete of the Week honors. Krasnai recorded a goal and an assist across a two-minute stretch in the final six minutes to help Bloomsburg to the 2-1 win.Â
The Huskies get a week without a game before returning to Steph Pettit Stadium on Wednesday, October 22, at 7:00 p.m. to take on East Stroudsburg.
