LANCASTER, Pa. – The Bloomsburg women's swimming team authored one of the best invitational performances in program history at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational, finishing just 2.3 points shy of the team title after a three-day surge highlighted by lifetime-best swims across the lineup, a national-level sprint performance from junior Morgan Holmes (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) and multiple moves into the program's all-time Top 10 lists.

Holmes headlined the weekend with a show-stopping performance in the 100 freestyle, winning the event in 50.77 after a 51.52 prelim swim. The time places her 11th in NCAA Division II this season and firmly on the national radar in the event. She also finished second in the 50 free with a 23.73 final (23.85 prelim) and added strong efforts in the 200 free (1:54.34) and 100 back (58.55), putting together one of the most complete sprint weekends in recent Bloomsburg history.

Junior Grace McBlain (Aldan, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) powered the Huskies through the IM and fly events. McBlain swept the 400 IM in 4:32.51 after a 4:36.81 prelim and won the 200 fly in 2:04.09 following a 2:06.95 morning swim, and she added a top-four finish in the 200 IM at 2:07.86. Her performances capped a big weekend for Bloomsburg's middle-distance and stroke group.

Senior breaststroker Vanesa Valli (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) anchored the Huskies in the breast events, winning the 100 breast in 1:04.49 after a 1:04.88 prelim and scoring in the 200 IM and 100 fly to add valuable points. Freshman Morgan Keefer (Lewisberry, Pa./Northern York) and sophomore Sadie Ludwick (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) joined Valli in the breaststroke finals, giving Bloomsburg multiple lanes in both the 100 and 200 breast as the Huskies closed the gap in the team race.

On the middle-distance and distance side, freshman Saryn McCullough (Newark, De./Newark Charter) and junior Ella Dittmar (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) delivered key scoring swims in the 500 free, 200 free and 1650 free, each posting big drops from their seed times. Senior Taleah Ruben (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville) and freshman Maddie Fletcher (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington County) added depth in the 200 IM and stroke events, while Avery Wenzel (Reading, Pa./Wilson), Jordyn Kinnee (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) and Ashley Martin (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) chipped in additional finals swims in the 100 and 200 back and 200 IM.

The Huskies also shined in the backstroke, where Holmes and McBlain reached the championship and consolation finals of the 100 and 200 back, and in the butterfly, where McBlain's win in the 200 fly was backed by more scoring efforts down the lineup. Throughout the meet, Bloomsburg consistently turned strong prelim swims into even faster finals, climbing the standings session by session.

Nearly every swimmer on the roster recorded at least one lifetime-best swim over the course of the weekend, with many posting multiple personal bests as they raced through prelims, finals and relays. Along the way, several Huskies made significant moves on Bloomsburg's all-time Top 10 lists on both the men's and women's sides, highlighted by Holmes' national-ranking 100 free and McBlain's IM and fly performances.

Though the Huskies ultimately finished just 2.5 points shy of the team title, the performance at F&M sent a clear message. With national-level speed at the top of the lineup, rising underclassmen contributing in key roles and a long list of new lifetime bests, Bloomsburg leaves the invitational with major momentum and an elevated ceiling heading into the remainder of the season.
