PREVIEW: Men's Tennis Earns No. 2 Seed for the 2025 PSAC Men's Tennis Championship Tournament

BLOOMSBURG, Pa – The Bloomsburg men's tennis team finished the regular season 10-2 and 4-2 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action. The Huskies earned the No. 2 seed for the 2025 PSAC Men's Tennis Tournament and are set to host No. 3 Millersville in the semifinals on Friday.
 
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
Bloomsburg has had strong play up and down its lineup this year. Junior Denis Dementev (Saint-Petersburg, Russia/) leads the Huskies with a 9-3 overall record in singles play at No. 1 while boasting a 4-1 record in conference action. Dementev enters the PSAC Tournament on a five-match winning streak. Vishesh Patel (Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India/Asia English School) is 6-3 at No. 2 singles this season and Iu Casamitjana (Igualada, Spain/Escola Pia Igualada) is 4-3 at No. 3 singles. Albert Martin (Barcelona/Instituto Menendez y Pelayo) enters the tournament weekend with a 4-2 record at No. 4 singles and Jaime Soria (Pamplona, Spain/Liceo Monjardin) is 5-1 at No. 5. Soria and Fernando Barros (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Hoosac School) have primarily played No. 6 singles and Barros is 2-2 while Soria is 2-3.
 
As a team, the Huskies are 48-23 overall in singles matches this season.
 
In doubles, Sergio Dilan (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cedin) and Vishesh Patel (Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India/Asia English School) are one of the top doubles teams in the conference with a 8-4 record at No. 1 while Casamitjana and Dementev are 7-2 at No. 2 doubles. Soria and Barros are 3-5 at No. 3 doubles for the Huskies at No. 3 and 4-6 overall.
 
The Bloomsburg doubles teams are 23-12 overall this season.
 
SCOUTING MILLERSVILLE
Millersville enters the PSAC Tournament with an 8-8 overall record and posted a 3-2 slate in conference play to earn the No. 3 seed.
 
Jasper de Koning is the top singles player for the Marauders with an 8-6 record at No. 3 while Lino Morin has a 7-9 record at No. 1 singles. Sebas Castro is 7-7 at No. 4 and Sandor Wulf is 6-8 at No. 5. Victor Suarez is 4-10 overall at No. 2 singles. Paul Bagnouls and Joel Oetliker have split time at No. 6 singles as Bagnouls is 5-4 this season and Oetlike is 3-4.
 
The Marauders are 53-76 overall in singles matches this season and 44-52 in dual match singles play.
 
Morin and Castro have been strong for the Marauders in doubles play this season with a 10-5 overall record at No. 1 while Bagnouls and Jasper de Koning are 7-7 at No. 2. Suarez and Wulf are 5-2 at No. 3 doubles this year.
 
As a team, the Marauders are 34-31 in doubles matches and 26-22 in dual match doubles play.
 
THE REST OF THE TOURNAMENT
In the other semifinals match, No. 1 Edinboro takes on No. 4 Kutztown at the Burt Reese Tennis Center. The winner of both semifinals will face off for the 2025 PSAC Men's Tennis Title on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
 
Edinboro earned the top seed in the conference tournament with a perfect 5-0 slate in conference play and have a 10-3 overall record this season. Kutztown claimed the No. 4 spot with a 13-4 record for the year and a 2-3 conference record.
 
REGIONAL RANKINGS
The Huskies enter the weekend ranked #7 in the Atlantic Region in the latest NCAA Regional rankings. Bloomsburg is one of three teams from the PSAC in the latest regional rankings with Edinboro checking in at No. 2 and Millersville claiming the No. 9 spot. The Huskies are 10-2 in region while the Fighting Scots are 9-1 and the Marauders are 6-6.
 
The winner of the PSAC Tournament will clinch the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament while several teams from the region look to grab at-large spots. Each regional bracket is comprised of seven teams from the regions.
