Women's Track & Field are Eighth Heading into Final Day of PSAC Championships

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – After two full days of competition, the Bloomsburg women's track & field team is sitting in eighth place overall with 13 team points at the end of the day, Friday.
 
The Huskies added eight team points between three events on the second day.
 
In the discus, freshman Julia Beccari (Lake Ronkonkoma, Pa./Sachem North) finished seventh overall with a toss of 39.93 meters (131'), her third throw of the first flight. The meet-best toss got her into the finals of the discus. Mikaela Sullivan (/) finished 18th in the event with a throw of 33.39 meters (109' 6").
 
Freshman Abigail Parise (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) took sixth overall in the long jump as she posted a meet-best distance of 5.54 meters (18' 2.25") in her second jump of the afternoon. She posted a jump of 5.16 meters (16' 11.25") in her final jump of the finals. Aria Messner (Avoca, Pa./Pittston Area) nearly missed the podium as she record a meet-best jump of 5.40 meters (17' 8.75") in the first flight to qualify for the last spot in the finals. Devin Hubler (Minersville, Pa./Minersville Area) finished 11th overall with a jump of 5.37 meters (17' 7.5").
 
Sophomore Sydney Werner (Reading, Pa./Conrad Weiser) finished seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:38.33 to pick up two more team points for the Huskies.
 
The 4x100-meter relay team of Emma Kay (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone Area), Abby Rochester (Pocono Summit, Pa./Pocono Mountain West), Megan Gambogi (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), and Messner qualified for the finals on Saturday with an eighth-place finish at 50.60.
 
Maddy Ikeler (/) qualified for the finals of the 100-meter hurdles with a prelim time of 14.92 to finish sixth overall in the first-round race.
 
The Huskies get underway during the third day of the championships on Saturday with the javelin throw at 11:00 a.m. Sophomore Kelly Leszcysnki is the top seed in the javelin with a school-record and NCAA provisional mark of 50.40 meters. The track events get underway at 1:00 p.m. with the 1,500-meter run.
