SELINSGROVE, Pa. — The Bloomsburg women's swimming team continued its steady climb toward the PSAC Championships Saturday afternoon, posting a dominant 147–47 victory over Susquehanna behind multiple PSAC qualifying swims, widespread season-best performances, and scoring depth across the entire lineup.
Bloomsburg opened the meet in the 200-yard medley relay with three scoring entries. The "B" relay of
Maddie Fletcher (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington County),
Sadie Ludwick (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff),
Jordyn Kinnee (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) and
Samantha Linsey (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) won the event in 1:48.31, while the "A" relay of
Grace McBlain (Aldan, Pa./Monsignor Bonner),
Morgan Keefer (Lewisberry, Pa./Northern York),
Ashley Martin (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) and
Vanesa Valli (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) placed second in 1:53.18.
Distance events again proved to be a strength for the Huskies. In the 500 freestyle, Bloomsburg swept the top three places as
Rachel Cunningham (Hanover, Pa./South Western) touched first in 5:32.46 with a season-best swim.
Morgan Holmes (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) followed in 5:34.23, and Sid Beers placed third in 5:35.04, with both swims also marking season bests.
Maddie Fletcher (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington County) captured the 200 freestyle in 2:00.36, a season-best performance that met the PSAC qualifying standard.
Grace McBlain (Aldan, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) finished second in 2:06.20 with a season best, while
Kaia Griffith (Pottstown, Pa./Spring-Ford) placed third in 2:07.33, also a season best.
Olivia Igou (Flourtown, Pa./Springfield Township) won the 50 freestyle in 25.21 while
Sarah Pickel (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) placed third in 25.99, and
Avery Wenzel (Reading, Pa./Wilson) added a sixth-place finish in 27.01.
Bloomsburg dominated the 200 individual medley with a podium sweep.
Ella Dittmar (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) won the event in 2:18.43 with a season-best time, followed closely by
Samantha Linsey (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) in 2:18.75 and
Sadie Ludwick (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) in 2:21.35.
Ashley Martin (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) highlighted the butterfly events, winning the 100 butterfly in 59.99, a season-best swim that met the PSAC qualifying standard.
Jordyn Kinnee (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) added a second-place finish in 1:01.58 with a season best, while
Morgan Keefer (Lewisberry, Pa./Northern York) finished fourth in 1:05.55, also a season best.
Sarah Pickel (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) secured first place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.65, a PSAC qualifying standard.
Saryn McCullough (Newark, De./Newark Charter) (58.84) and Wenzel (1:00.18) rounded out Bloomsburg's top-eight finishes with a season-best swim for Wenzel.
In the 100 backstroke,
Vanesa Valli (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) led a Bloomsburg sweep, touching first in 1:03.41, followed by Keefer (1:05.89) and Martin (1:06.94). All three swims marked season-best performances.
The Huskies closed individual events with another sweep in the 100 breaststroke.
Taleah Ruben (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville) won in 1:10.75, PSAC qualifying standard, while Griffith (1:13.03) and McBlain (1:14.88) followed with season-best times.
Bloomsburg capped the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay as the "A" relay of Holmes, Beers, Linsey and Cunningham touched first in 1:40.13. The "B" relay placed second to close out the scoring.
The Huskies close out the regular season next Saturday as they honor their senior class with an intrasquad meet at Nelson Field House.
