LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's indoor track and field team recorded multiple PSAC-qualifying performances and a series of top-15 finishes across the track, field and combined events at the Bison Challenge and Multi, hosted by Bucknell University.
Bloomsburg's strongest showing on the track came in the 500 meters, where the Huskies placed six athletes inside the top 15. Freshman
Katrell Butler (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) led the group with a fifth-place finish after crossing the line in 1:09.94. Fellow freshman Eli Butler followed closely behind in sixth place at 1:10.49, while sophomore Bryce Pattillo finished eighth with a time of 1:11.59. Sophomore
Evan Mann (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) added an 11th-place result in 1:12.76, a lifetime best,
William Burdett (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) placed 12th in 1:13.40, and
Lucas Pearson (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) rounded out the group in 14th at 1:16.38.
In the 400 meters, junior
Finnegan Purtle (/) led the Huskies with a 16th-place finish, clocking 52.17, while freshman Chris Schearer followed just behind in 17th with a time of 52.32.
Junior
Salahudinn Abdul-Hamid (State College, Pa./State College Area) added a top-15 finish in the 800 meters, placing 15th overall with a time of 2:05.33.
Senior
Peter Tepper (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) paced Bloomsburg in the mile, finishing sixth overall with a time of 4:24.40, a lifetime best for Tepper.
In the hurdles, junior
Justin Herrmann (Palmerton, Pa./Palmerton Area) delivered one of the Huskies' top performances of the meet, placing fifth in the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries with a time of 8.42 to meet the PSAC automatic qualifying standard.
Bloomsburg's relay teams also turned in solid efforts, as the 4x400 relay of
Peter Tepper (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East),
Jordan Mann (Kunkletown, Pa./Palmerton),
Salahudinn Abdul-Hamid (State College, Pa./State College Area) and
Evan Mann (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) finished seventh with a time of 3:40.37. The Huskies' distance medley relay team of Tepper,
Finnegan Purtle (/),
Landon Kester (Benton, Pa./Benton) and
Rex Farr (/) also placed seventh after posting a time of 10:53.38.
In the field events, freshman
Michael Deckert (/) recorded a pair of top-15 finishes. Deckert placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.91 meters (42-4.25) and added a 15th-place finish in the long jump at 6.23 meters (20-5.25), a lifetime best.
The throwing events provided multiple PSAC qualifiers for Bloomsburg. Junior
Kaleb Zimmerman (Lancaster, Pa./Garden Spot) earned a PSAC automatic qualifier in the shot put, placing sixth with a throw of 15.02 meters (49-3.5), a personal best. Junior Cameron Williams also met the PSAC standard in the weight throw, finishing fourth overall with a mark of 17.02 meters (55-10.25), his best throw as a Husky. Senior
Michael Taylor (/) added an eighth-place finish in the weight throw at 15.52 meters (50-11), while freshman
Dylan Krugh (Bangor, Pa./Bangor Area) rounded out the top-15 with a 12th-place result at 14.27 meters (46-10).
In the combined events, senior
Andrew Kane (Bradford, Pa./Bradford Area) represented Bloomsburg in the heptathlon and finished fifth overall with 4,075 points.
The Huskies get back to work next weekend as the team will split time between the Fastrack National Invite in Staten Island, N.Y. and the Blue and Orange Invite at Utica.
