KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Following a pair of victories to open the season, the Bloomsburg men's soccer team is ranked No. 8 in the first United Soccer Coaches Division II national poll of the 2026 season.
The No. 8 ranking is the highest for the Huskies under head coach
Mark Bassett and the program's best national ranking since 2002. Bloomsburg is the only Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference team included in the national top 25.
Bloomsburg (2-0) opened the season with a 3-2 victory over Felician before earning a 3-1 win against Jefferson. The Huskies received goals from six different players during the opening weekend, with
Finn Garner (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin),
Dylan Kopenits (Bensalem, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic),
Nick Guzak (Washington Township, N.J./Washington Township),
Zayd DeVeaux (Philadelphia, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill Academy),
Andrew Beagle (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) and
Logan Savage (Bensalem, Pa./Archbishop Wood) each finding the back of the net.
Savage leads the Huskies with three points after recording a goal and an assist and was named the PSAC East Men's Soccer Player of the Week on Monday. Beagle and Guzak provided the game-winning goals against Jefferson and Felician, respectively.
Bloomsburg has scored six goals on 17 shots while placing eight attempts on target. The Huskies' defense has limited opponents to 13 total shots, including five on goal, and just three corner kicks through two games. Bloomsburg held Jefferson to five shots and one attempt on goal in Saturday's victory.
Midwestern State retained the top spot in the national poll, followed by Rollins, Franklin Pierce, Point Loma Nazarene and Rogers State. Saginaw Valley State and North Georgia are ranked sixth and seventh, respectively, immediately ahead of the Huskies.
Bloomsburg returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 2, when the Huskies travel to Frostburg State for a 7 p.m. nonconference match.
