HUMMELS WHARF, Pa. — The Bloomsburg men's golf team matched the second-best single-day round in program history Tuesday, shooting a 296 to finish second at the Susquehanna Fall Invitational at Susquehanna Valley Country Club.

Led by Connor Matteo's (Drums, Pa./Hazleton) 2-over-par 72, the Huskies placed four golfers in the top 15 and finished at 16 over on the par-70, 6,261-yard course. Bloomsburg finished seven strokes behind tournament champion Susquehanna, which carded a 289, and two strokes ahead of third-place Lebanon Valley.

Matteo tied for fifth individually, balancing four bogeys with two birdies and 12 pars. He recovered from bogeys on his opening two holes with a birdie on the par-3 third, then added another birdie on the seventh. Matteo made the turn at 1 over and recorded eight pars on the back nine to close with a 72.

Patrick Bush (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) gave the Huskies a second top-10 finisher, tying for 10th with a 4-over 74. Bush opened with a birdie on the first hole and played the front nine at even par. He added seven pars on the back nine, finishing with 13 for the round.

Charlie O'Connor (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) and Rylan Bravin (Frederick, Md./Urbana) each shot a 5-over 75 to tie for 14th, completing Bloomsburg's four counting scores.

O'Connor made the turn at 2 over before producing two birdies on the back nine. He birdied the par-5 10th and par-5 17th, helping the Huskies secure their place near the top of the team standings.

Bravin recorded a team-high three birdies, beginning with a birdie on the par-3 third. After turning at 1 over, he added birdies on the 14th and 17th to finish with a 75.

Wilson Abram (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) rounded out Bloomsburg's lineup with an 85, tying for 64th. Abram recorded seven pars, including five on the back nine.

The Huskies' counting scores were separated by just three strokes, with Matteo's 72, Bush's 74 and matching 75s from O'Connor and Bravin combining for a historic afternoon.

Bloomsburg returns to action on October 5 at the Alvernia Invitational.
