DANVILLE, Pa. - Charlie O'Connor (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) recorded a top-10 finish as the Bloomsburg men's golf team moved up one position during the final round of the Husky Invitational at Frosty Valley Resort on Sunday.
The Huskies' A team followed its opening-round score of 318 with a 311 on Sunday to finish fifth in the eight-team field at 629, 53 over par. Frosty Valley played as a par-72 course for the two-day tournament.
O'Connor led Bloomsburg throughout the weekend, finishing alone in 10th place at 7 over. After opening with a 4-over 76 on Saturday, O'Connor carded a 3-over 75 during the final round to complete the tournament at 151.
Colin Riekofsky (Smethport, Pa./Smethport Junior/Senior) provided the best closing round by a Bloomsburg golfer. Competing with the Huskies' C team, Riekofsky improved six strokes from his opening round and fired a 1-over 73 on Sunday. His two-day total of 152 placed him in a tie for 11th, one stroke behind O'Connor.
Connor Matteo (Drums, Pa./Hazleton) and Wilson Abram (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) finished tied for 23rd at 15 over to help Bloomsburg's A team climb past Clarion in the final standings. Both golfers followed opening-round 80s with rounds of 79 on Sunday to finish at 159.
Rylan Bravin (Frederick, Md./Urbana) shaved four strokes from his first-round score, closing with a 6-over 78 to finish tied for 29th at 160. Nash Bostdorf (/) completed the A lineup with a final-round 79 and tied for 31st at 162.
Bloomsburg's B team placed seventh at 69 over after rounds of 326 and 319.
Patrick Bush (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) led the B team with rounds of 80 and 79, finishing tied for 23rd at 159. Bryson Hicklin (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) was one stroke behind Bush at 160 following rounds of 81 and 79, placing him in a tie for 29th.
Luke Bratetic (Chandler, Ariz./Perry) posted matching rounds of 82 to finish tied for 36th at 164. Tyler Wilkin made a nine-stroke improvement during the final round, following an opening 88 with a 79 to finish tied for 39th at 167. Phillip Matthews joined Wilkin at 167 after rounds of 83 and 84.
Led by Riekofsky's closing 73, the Huskies' C team matched the B team with a 31-over final round. The group finished eighth at 73 over with rounds of 330 and 319.
Drake Brogan (Ocean View, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) followed an opening-round 83 with a 79 to finish tied for 31st at 162. James Sias (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) placed 38th at 166, while John Lee (Seoul, South Korea/Southwest Christian) finished 42nd at 169. Jake Achenbach (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) rounded out the lineup at 188.
Competing as individuals, Will Geigerich improved by five strokes Sunday with a 79. He finished tied for 34th at 163 following rounds of 84 and 79. Aidan Scott (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) recorded rounds of 91 and 89 to finish at 180.
Millersville captured the team championship at 18 over after posting the lowest round of the tournament with a 2-over 290 on Sunday. Chestnut Hill also finished at 18 over and placed second, while Scranton took third at 24 over.
Millersville's Cole Duffy won the individual title at 1 over after firing a tournament-low 4-under 68 in the final round. Shepherd's Killian Donnelly also finished at 1 over and placed second.
