BLOOMSBURG-Greg Elliott (White Rock, British Columbia, Earl Marriott) scored a career-high 19 points to lead six players in double figures as the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team posted a 91-38 win over Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Monday night at the Nelson Field House.
The Huskies controlled the game from the opening tip and quickly led 11-2 in the first two and half minutes of play. Larry Webster (Elkton, MD, Elkton) had four of the 11 points with Elliott getting a three-pointer in the opening minutes.
Bloomsburg continued to build on the led by as many as 30 points, 43-13, with a minute to go before halftime after a jumper from Elliott following a steal from Trevon Johnson (Snow Hill, MD, Snow Hill).
In the second half the Huskies pushed the lead to as many as 56 points before a late three-pointer for PSU Wilkes-Barre made the final margin 53. The 38 points allowed by the Huskies is the fewest since the team allowed 39 to Cheyney in the 1994-95 season.
Along with Elliott's 19, Ed Hall (Spencerville, Paint Branch) added 12 with Webster and Jamar Smack (State College, State College) getting 11, while Earl Knight (Haddonfield, NJ, LEAP Academy) and Johnson chipped in with 10 each. All 10 players on the Huskies scored at least two points in the game. Penn State Wilkes-Barre, now 5-5, was led by Matt Clemons with nine points.
Bloomsburg, 3-2, will host Chestnut Hill College on Thursday at 7 p.m.
