Bengel Lands Spot on All-PSAC East Second Team

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Bloomsburg men's basketball's Matt Bengel (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Second Team honors as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
 
Bengel earned his first career All-PSAC award after finishing tenth in the conference in points with 462 points this season. The guard ended his Bloomsburg career 21st in school history in points with 1,149. Bengel ended the season in fourth in the conference standings in total field goals with 180.
 
The Mercyhurst Prep graduate's team-leading 40 steals this season brought him into 14th in school history with 125.
 
Bengel led the Huskies in eight statistical categories this season; points (462), points per game (16.5), shooting percentage (48.8), three-point shooting percentage (41.6), rebounds (160), field goals (180), free throws made (70), field goals attempted (369). He also finished second in assists (49) and blocks (14).
 
The Erie, Pa.-native is the first Husky to earn All-PSAC honors since Justin Anderson in 2021-22 and the first player under the tenure of head coach Chris Bess.
 
Bloomsburg finished the regular season with its best record since the 2019-20 season.
