MOON TOWNSHIP-The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team opened its 2010 season with a 12-7 win over Seton Hill University on Wednesday in a game played at Robert Morris University.
The Huskies led 6-3 at halftime and outscored the home team by a 6-4 margin in the second half to post the five-goal victory. Bloomsburg got goals from eight different players with freshman Maggie Canavan (Erdenheim, Springfield)leading the way with three goals. In addition,Kim Springman (Downingtown, Bishop Shanahan) andAllie Kakareka (Royersford, Spring-Ford) each scored two goals and had two assists. Also scoring one goal and getting two assists were Tia Mazzie (Barto, Boyertown) and Samantha Mazzie (Barto, Boyertown) with Samantha King (Elkton, MD, North East) and Lyndsey Babilon (Boyertown, Boyertown) scoring one goal each.
Devyn Mulholland (Turnersville, NJ, Washington Twp.) and Shelby Iezzi (Pottstown, Owen J. Roberts) split time in goal for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg, 1-0, will play at Belmont Abbey on Monday at 3 p.m.
