Lacrosse Team Rolls over Millersville

MILLERSVILLE-Allie Kakareka (Royersford, Spring-Ford) scored a game-high six goals and added three assists as the Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team rolled to a 20-6 win over Millersville Monday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup.

The Huskies wasted little time getting on the board with Samantha King (Elkton, MD, North East)scoring just 55 seconds into the game. Kakareka then tallied her first goal of the game at the 2:08 mark off an assist from Lyndsey Babilon (Boyertown, Boyertown). King followed with two more goals over the next three minutes to give the Huskies a 4-0 lead. Bloomsburg would go on to score four more goals to take an 8-0 lead with 16:57 to go in the first half. Millersville finally got on the board at the 14:52 mark and added a second goal two minutes later. The Huskies scored three of the final four goals of the half to lead 11-3 at halftime.

In the second half Bloomsburg scored six of the first seven goals to go up17-4 after Tia Mazzie (Barto, Boyertown) scored on a free position shot with 13:38 to play. Later, leading 18-6, the Huskies closed out the scoring with Lindsay Kupferschmidt (Royersford/Spring-Ford) (Royersford, Spring-Ford)
scoring on a Kakareka assist with 1:39 to go and Kakareka getting an unassisted goal with 1:03 to play.

Along with Kakareka's six goals, Samantha Mazzie (Barto, Boyertown)scored four times and King added three for Bloomsburg, now 10-4, 5-2 in the PSAC East.

Bloomsburg plays at West Chester on Thursday at 4 p.m.
