BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team will host East Stroudsburg University on Tuesday, April 27 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) quarterfinal playoff game. Start time at Sports Stadium is set for 4 p.m. Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens.
The Huskies, 12-5, finished second in the PSAC Eastern Division, while East Stroudsburg, 11-6, finished third in the PSAC East. The winner of the game will advance to the PSAC final four on Friday and Saturday. West Chester earned a first round bye after winning the PSAC Eastern Division title.
Bloomsburg is making its 20th trip to the PSAC playoffs and fourth straight under coach Leah Carr. The Huskies are looking for their first PSAC playoff win since 2005 when they beat Lock Haven in the semi-finals. Bloomsburg can tie the school record for wins in a season with a victory on Tuesday. The current mark of 13 was first established in the 2003 season under then head coach Kathy Frick.
This will be the third meeting of the season between the Huskies and the Warriors with the Huskies having won the two previous games by identical 13-5 scores. Both times sophomore
Allie Kakareka (Royersford, Spring-Ford)scored four goals to lead Bloomsburg, while goalkeeper
Shelby Iezzi (Pottstown, Owen J. Roberts)made a career-high 20 saves in the first meeting and made 13 in the second meeting of the year between the teams.
Kakareka has been the Huskies dominant force offensively all season scoring a team-high 48 goals and is second in assists with 24 for a team-high 72 points. She has helped the Huskies score 244 goals in 2010, just 25 shy of the school record set a year ago. She has twice been named the PSAC East Player of the Week and scored a career-high six goals in a win over Millersville earlier this season.

Samantha King (Elkton, MD, North East) with 41, while freshman
Samantha Mazzie (Barto, Boyertown) is second in overall scoring with 51 points coming on 35 goals and 16 assists. Bloomsburg's lone senior,
Kim Springman (Downingtown, Bishop Shanahan), is third in scoring with 47 points on 22 goals and a team-high 25 assists.
Tia Mazzie (Barto, Boyertown) has 20 goals and 15 assists, while a trio of freshmen round out the Huskies double-digit goal scorers.
Lyndsey Babilon (Boyertown, Boyertown) with 21 goals,
Maggie Canavan (Erdenheim, Springfield) with 11 and
Sarah Bennett (Gilbertsville, Boyertown) adding 10.
Iezzi has been outstanding in goal for Bloomsburg with a goals against average of 8.30 and a saves percentage of .548. She has 11 games this season where she has allowed seven goals or less, including six of the last seven games.
Defensively, junior
Ashley Bowers (Springfield, Springfield), a 2008 All-American, has turned in another outstanding season with 40 ground balls, a team-high 28 draw controls and 14 caused turnovers. Freshman
Deanna Hauser (East Northport, NY, Commack)has also put together a solid rookie season with 33 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers.
East Stroudsburg is making its second PSAC playoff appearance in three seasons under fifth-year head coach Lynne Elphick, who has guided her teams to 11-win seasons in 2008 and 2010 – tied with the 2000 team for the school record.
The winner of the quarterfinal game will face Lock Haven, the top-seed from the PSAC West, on Friday at 4 p.m, while West Chester will face the winner of the other quarterfinal matchup between Gannon and Mercyhurst at 1 p.m.
