Kakareka Leads Lacrosse Team to Win

Allie Kakareka scored four goals and added three assists for the Huskies

KUTZTOWN-Allie Kakareka (Royersford, Spring-Ford) scored four goals and had three assists to lead the Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team to a 23-7 win over Kutztown on Saturday.

The Huskies scored just 1:11 into the game when Kakareka scored off a Kim Springman (Downingtown, Bishop Shanahan)  pass. Bloomsburg then scored six of the next seven goals to lead 7-1 with Samantha King (Elkton, MD, North East) scoring two of the six goals.

After the Golden Bears scored twice to make it 7-3, the Huskies scored seven straight times with Kakareka getting one goal and two assists in the rally.

Leading 14-4 at halftime, the Huskies put the game out of reach scoring six of the first seven goals of the period to lead 20-5 with 19:42 to play.

Along with Kakareka scoring four times, King and Samantha Mazzie (Barto, Boyertown) also scored four goals each with Springman and Kelsey Schwan (Burnet Hills, Burnet Hills-Ballston Lake ) scoring two goals each.

Bloomsburg, now 7-4, hosts East Stroudsburg on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
