Kutztown Defeats Men's Basketball, 89-80

BOX SCORE

KUTZTOWN--Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport, Williamsport) led the Huskies with 21 points, but it was not enough to surpass the Golden Bears as Kutztown University defeated the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team, 89-80, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action on Saturday.

The first period started back-and-forth with the lead changing hands six times. Halfway through, Bloomsburg held a 16-15 edge over Kutztown, but from there, the Golden Bears took control, out-scoring the Huskies by 13 points in the next ten minutes. KU carried a 44-32 advantage into halftime.

Bloomsburg went on a 6-0 run early in the second half, and the lead was cut to three points with the Huskies trailing 53-50. With seven minutes to play, Jordan hit a pair of foul shots to tie the game at 66-66. He later hit three more to tie the game again at 69-69.

With BU leading 73-72, Kutztown went on a 6-0 run that proved to be the killing blow for the Huskies. A handful of defensive stops and converted offensive opportunities by the Golden Bears prevented Bloomsburg from reeling back the lead. Kutztown's 7-2 run to close the game secured an 89-80 victory.

Adding 12 rebounds to his 21 points, Jordan recorded his sixth double-double of the season. Behind Jordan, Trevon Johnson (Snow Hill, MD, Snow Hill) and Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown, Norristown) both scored 19 points. John Schwarz (Delta, Perry Hall) tallied 10 rebounds to go with eight points.

Bloomsburg (5-9, 1-1 PSAC East) returns home to host Shippensburg on Wednesday, January 19 at 7:30 p.m., while Kutztown (9-5, 2-0) will travel to play West Chester at 8 p.m. on the same night.
