BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University wrestling team lost to Edinboro on Friday night by a score 23-15 in an Eastern Wrestling League match.

The Huskies jumped out to the early lead going up 6-0 on a pin by Sean Boylan (Seaville, NJ/St. Marks) 4:36 into the match. Edinboro came back and won the next four matches to lead 16-6.

Bloomsburg cut the deficit to 16-12 with wins at 165 pounds by Josh Veltre (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) and at 174 pounds from Mike Dessino (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex), but the Fighting Scots countered with wins in the next two weight classes before the Huskies Zac Walsh (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) won at heavyweight.

Bloomsburg falls to 11-4, 0-2 in the EWL, while Edinboro improves to 7-8-1, 2-1 in the EWL. The Huskies wrestle at Pitt on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Match by Match—
125—Bloomsburg's Sean Boylan (Seaville, NJ/St. Marks) jumped out to an early lead, scoring a pair of takedowns two near falls to lead 8-1 after the first period. Boylan would add another takedown before scoring the fall at the 4:36 mark.

133— There was no scoring in the first period between Nick Wilcox (Greene, NY/Greene Central) of Bloomsburg and Edinboro's Eric Morrill. Wilcox would strike first in the second with an escape to take a 1-0 lead, but Morrill answered with a takedown just before the end of the period to lead 2-1 after two. Morrill would add an escape in the third to earn the 3-1 decision.

141— After a quick takedown from Kasey Davis, Derek Shingara (Shamokin/Shamokin) would take control of the first period, with an escape and a takedown to put the score at 3-2 heading into the second. Davis answered with a second takedown and a two-point near fall, but Shingara would escape late in the period to trail by just one after two. Davis scored two takedowns in the third to earn the 11-7 decision.

149—Torsten Gillespie got on top early with a takedown and a 3-point near fall to lead 5-0 after one. He would add another takedown and a point for stalling to lead by eight heading into the third. Gillespie would add an escape and another takedown in the third to secure the 12-0 major decision.

157— Greisheimer jumped out to an early 4-0 lead on a takedown and a 2-point near fall, but Frank Hickman (Castle Hayne, NC/E.A. Laney) would battle back with an escape and a takedown of his own. However, Greisheimer was able to able to reverse Hickman and score the fall at the 2:40 mark.

165— After a scoreless first period, Ethan Saylor escaped midway through the second to take a 1-0 lead. Veltre would square the match at 1-1 with an escape to begin the third period, and clinch the 4-1 decision with a late takedown.

174— Edinboro's Chris Hrunka took an early 2-0 lead on takedown, but Mike Dessino (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) escaped just before the end of the period to trail by just one after the first. The only scoring in the second came on a Dessino escape to tie the match at 2-2. Working from the top to begin the third period, Dessino earned a 3-point near fall to take the match 6-2 with riding time.

184— Nate Graham (Selkirk, NY/Ravena) kept the match scoreless through the first two minutes of the match against Edinboro's Chris Honeycutt, but the nation's top wrestler at 184 lbs. scored a takedown just before the end of the first period. Honeycutt would add a pair of takedowns and a 3-point near fall in the second period to lead 9-2 after two. Honeycutt added two more takedowns in the third to secure the 14-3 major decision.

197— After a takedown in the first, Edinboro's Shawn Fendone added a second takedown in the second to lead 4-0 after two. Fendone would go on to win the match 5-0 with riding time.

HWT— After a scoreless first, Zac Walsh (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) scored an escape and a takedown to lead 3-1 after two periods. Ernest James earned an escape late in the third period, but Walsh was able to secure the victory with riding time 5-2.
