LEWISBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's indoor track and field team posted two school records and had 10 members of the team qualify for the PSAC championships at the Bison Open held at Bucknell University on Saturday.
Setting a school indoor record in the 400 dash was
Marvin Carter (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown Regional) with a time of 50.38 seconds, while
Cory Palek (Shenandoah/Shenandoah Valley) set a school record in the 35 lb weight throw with a mark of 13.58 meters. Both marks were also met the PSAC qualifying standards.
Also qualifying in the 400 dash were
Devin Barr (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) with a time of 50.92 and
Jessie Mustapha (Philadelphia/University City) with a time of 50.93 seconds. Barr also qualified in the 200 dash with a time of 22.81 seconds. In the 60 meter dash
Shawn Geiser (Wellsboro/Wellsboro ) ran a PSAC-qualifying time of 7.16 in the consolation final, while Matt Iashman qualified in the 60-meter hurdles with a mark of 8.96.
In the high jump
Earvin Paul (Spring Valley, NY/Paramus Catholic) jumped 1.91 meters (6'3 ¼”), while
Scott Ryder (Montgomery/Montgomery) had a mark of 1.86 meters (6'1 1/4”). In the 35 lb weight throw Carl Fraunpreis had a toss for 13.48 meters to qualify for the PSAC championships.
“This was a great early season meet for us (Bloomsburg),” said Huskies head coach
Bernie Empie. “I am very excited for the progress our team has made and the improvements across the event groups.
