HILTON HEAD, SC - The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team fell to Wingate University by a score of 8-1 on Tuesday morning. In the third of a four match of Bloomsburg's spring break trip, a talented Wingate team, ranked #39 in the nation, dealt the Huskies their second loss of the season.
In doubles play, Bloomsburg picked up only one victory. Junior
Emily Palko (McMurray/Peters Township) and freshman
Michelle Perez (Center Valley/Southern Lehigh) outplayed a strong opponent winning a tight match, 8-6.
The Huskies, though, went on to drop all six singles positions. Junior
Danielle Walsh (Fairfield, CT/St. John The Baptist) lost a close battle at number three singles 7-5, 6-3.
With the loss, the Huskies are now 5-2 with their next match scheduled for Wednesday morning against the Tusculum Pioneers from Tennessee.
