BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team lost to #10 Gannon on Saturday afternoon by a score of 10-8 in a PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) matchup.
The Lady Knights jumped out on top 1-0 one minute into the game. Bloomsburg answered though 20 seconds later when
Sarah Bennett (Gilbertsville, Boyertown) scored. The Huskies would score two more within the next two minutes, with
Kelsey Metzler (Schwenksville, Perkiomen Valley) scoring off a pass from Bennett, while
Samantha King (Elkton, MD, North East) had the other goal.
At the 17:33 mark Gannon would narrow the gap to 3-2.
Kelsey Schwan (Burnet Hills, Burnet Hills-Ballston Lake ) found the back of the net after taking a pass from Metzler at the 14:24 mark. In the next three minutes, Gannon would go on a 3-0 run, making the score 6-4.
With 3:13 left in the half,
Lyndsey Babilon (Boyertown, Boyertown) would score off a free position shot, narrowing the score to 6-5. Gannon would score the next two goals, closing the half leading 8-5.
Gannon started the second half with a free postion shot, starting to pull away 9-5. The Huskies would score the next two goals within 30 seconds by Bennett and King, making the score 9-7.
With less than 11 minutes left in the half, the Lady Knights would find the back of the net once more, putting them up by three. At the 9:47 mark King would score for the Huskies off a pass from Schwan, which would be the last goal for either teams at 10-8.
King finished with three goals, while Bennett had two. Metzler, Schwan and Babilon would each add a goal for the Huskies, while
Shelby Iezzi (Pottstown, Owen J. Roberts) would record four saves on the day.
Bloomsburg, 6-5, 3-3 in the PSAC, will travel to Shippensburg on Wednesday for a 4 p.m start.
