Eight Huskies Score as the Lacrosse Team Downs Millersville, 13-3

BLOOMSBURG—The No. 13 ranked Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team defeated  Millersville University, 13-3, on Saturday in a PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) match up.

The Huskies scored all seven goals of the game's first half with Kelsey Schwan (Burnet Hills, Burnet Hills-Ballston Lake ) scoring two minutes into the half, while Samantha King (Elkton, MD, North East) scored just two minutes after. Sam Mazzie (Barto, Boyertown) would score the next two goals for the Huskies, leaving the score at 4-0 at the 21:04 mark.

With less than a minute later, Tia Mazzie (Barto, Boyertown) would find the back of the net off a pass from sister, Sam Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown), putting the Huskies up by five. Gabrielle Lochetto (Phoenixville, Owen J. Roberts) would score off a free position shot with less than 14 minutes in the half. Sarah Bennett (Gilbertsville, Boyertown) would score for the Huskies at the 3:19 mark, ending the half at 7-0.

Bloomsburg opened the second half with less than a minute in when Kelsey Metzler (Schwenksville, Perkiomen Valley) hit the back of the net. Almost two minutes later, Schwan would pass to Sam Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown), who would put the Huskies up by nine. At the 25:45 mark, Schwan would add another assist after Metzler scored off her pass.
It wasn't until 21:55 left in the game when the Marauders would score their first goal off a free position shot. Millersville would then score two more goals with 15:16 left to play, making the score 10-3.

The Huskies weren't done scoring for the day, when Lyndsey Babilon (Boyertown, Boyertown) found the back of the net at the 12:43 mark. Bennett would score less than a minute after, when taking a pass from Monica Novielli (West Chester, Rustin), putting them up by nine. Sam Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown) would score the final goal with 2:45 to play, as the Huskies went on to post their last regular season home win.

Sam Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown) led the Huskies with four goals, while Metzler and Bennett each added two goals. King, Schwan, Babilon, Lochetto and Tia Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown) would also contribute a goal in the win. In goal Shelby Iezzi (Pottstown, Owen J. Roberts) stopped six shots for the Huskies.

Bloomsburg goes to 7-6, 4-4 in the PSAC, with the win, while Millersville falls to 4-7, 2-6 in the PSAC. The Huskies travel to Edinboro on Friday at 4 pm.
