DAY ONE
SLIPPERY ROCK--Day one of the 2011 PSAC Track and Field Championships came to an end late Thursday evening after rain and lightning pushed back the start of the 10K finals.
For the women at 10,000 meters
Kaitlyn McShay (Springfield/Cardinal O'Hara) finished in 12th in a timef of 39:14.71. In the Hammer throw
Brooke Matza (Shavertown/Lake Lehman) had her best season series of throws finishing in 18th with a throw of 38.70m (127'0).
For the men on day one
Stephen Grib (Vernon, NJ/Vernon) finished day one of the Decathlon in 7th place with a score of 3049 points. Grib had personal best in the 100 (12.00), Shot Put 9.75m (32'0), and the 400 in 53.12. Grib also posted a long jump of 6.13m (20'1.5"), and a high jump of 1.81m (5'11.25"). The decathlon will conclude tomorrow with five more events, 110 hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and the 1500m run on Friday.
