SLIPPERY ROCK--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up competition at day two of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Friday. After competition was delayed by storms in the area, the Huskies finished the day on the scoreboard with some exceptional conference performances.
For the women, Bloomsburg had two performers on the podium, both in fifth place.
Katie Meck (Dillsburg/Northern) finished fifth in the 5,000m Run with a time of 17:22.62, missing the Bloomsburg record by only six seconds. Freshman
Vanessa Rimbey (Lehighton/Lehighton Area) took fifth in the Long Jump, leaping 5.14m (16' 10.5").
In addition,
Jessica Shisler (Port Matilda/State College Area) qualified for Saturday's final in the 200m Dash. Her time of 25.68 edged out her competition for the eighth and final spot in the championship heat.
On the men's side,
Stephen Grib (Vernon, NJ/Vernon) finished the Decathlon in sixth place, scoring 6,012 points. Grib had the second-best javelin throw among the decathletes with a hurl of 47.98m (157' 5", 559 points), and he pole vaulted third-best of the multi-discipline athletes after clearing 4.10m (13' 5.25", 645 points).
Jack Rosenstein (Shohola/Delaware Valley) added another two team points with his seventh-place showing in the Shot Put. His put of 14.82m (48' 7.5") was the best among freshmen in the event, putting him in position to further improve in future years.
Jesse Mustapha qualified for Saturday's championship heat in the 400m Dash. His time of 49.22 qualified him in the seventh spot for the final.
Devin Barr (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) posted a 22.16 in the 200m Dash and will run again on Saturday as the seventh-best qualifier.
