WEST CHESTER—
Amanda Riley (Tannersville/Pocono Mountain East) scored two goals to lead the top-ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team to a 4-1 win over second-ranked West Chester on Tuesday.
In the early going both teams had scoring chances with the Huskies getting seven penalty corners and the Golden Rams two in the game's first 25 minutes. Bloomsburg finally broke through in the 28th minute when
Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) scored off a
Brooke Simonovich (East Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg) assist. For DiSabatino, the hero in last week's win over Shippensburg, it was her third goal of the season.
The Huskies added to their lead just three minutes later when Riley, last year's PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Year, scored off an assist from
Amber Aulenbach (Fleetwood/Oley Valley).
In the second half Riley connected for the second time in the game with
Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) getting credit for the assist just 4:32 into the period.
The Golden Rams cut into the deficit in the 43rd minute with a goal on a penalty corner with Alisha Moran hitting the back of the cage from a Nancy Stehman assist.
Bloomsburg closed out the showdown with West Chester with
Cassie DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) scoring on a penalty stroke. From there the Huskies defense withstood eight shots on goal by the home team over an eight-minute stretch.
Bloomsburg finished with 16 shots compared to 13 for West Chester, while the Golden Rams had a 10-9 edge in penalty corners.

Meghan Hollenbach (Blandon/Fleetwood) had six saves, while Kristin Arnold from the Golden Rams had eight.
The Huskies stay unbeaten at 4-0, 1-0 in the PSAC East, while West Chester is 2-1, 0-1 in the PSAC East. Bloomsburg will play at Mercyhurst on Friday at 4 p.m.
