EDINBORO—The Bloomsburg University wrestling team tried to make it three straight road wins on Friday night, but came up short losing to #11 Edinboro, 23-16.
 
The Huskies opened the match with a win by Sean Boylan (Seaville, NJ/St. Marks) at 125 pounds who won 6-1. Edinboro came back with wins in the next three bouts to go on top 12-3. At 141 pounds Derek Shingara (Shamokin/Shamokin) narrowly lost to #18 Mitchell Port, 4-2, while at 149 BU's Bryce Busler (Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley) battled sixth-ranked Dave Habat before falling 6-2.
 
Bloomsburg rallied with #9 Frank Hickman (Castle Hayne, NC/E.A. Laney) scoring a 19-6 win over Casey Fuller at 157 pounds to narrow the gap to 12-7.
 
Bloomsburg cut the lead to12-7 when Kevin Hartnett (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) won 9-5 at 165 pounds, then the Huskies took a 16-12 lead when #20 Mike Dessino (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) won by fall over Chris Hrunka in 5:45 at 174 pounds.
 
Edinboro though came back and won by major decision at both 184 and 197, then closed out the match when Ernest James won 4-2 at heavyweight over the Huskies Zac Walsh (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls).
 
“We are wrestling hard,” said coach John Stutzman. “We had our chances at 141, 149 and heavyweight, but ended up losing tight matches. We were in a position to win, but Edinboro is a very talented team.”

The loss for the Huskies was their fifth this season to a ranked team. Previously Bloomsburg fell to Maryland, Penn State, Penn, and Pitt.
 
Bloomsburg will be back at the Nelson Field House on Feb. 3 hosting Clarion at 7 p.m.
