Manheim, PA – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has announced the NCAA Division I Men's Scholar All-American Awards, recognizing outstanding academic achievement by individual student-athletes across the nation. Graduate student Jace Schafer (Fairport, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) earned the honor for the second time in his career and senior William Morrow (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) earned the distinction for the third-straight season.

A total of 390 student-athletes representing 73 institutions were recognized for their academic success in the classroom while competing throughout the season.

The scholar awards follow the conclusion of the NCAA Division I Men's Championships, which took place March 19-21. Penn State captured the team title with a new record of 181.5 points and four individual champions.

"These student-athletes have demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence both on the mat and in the classroom. We commend their dedication and the example they set for the sport." — NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer

Morrow is a three-time NWCA Scholar All-American and a two-time Academic All-MAC and CSC Academic All-District honoree. Schafer is a two-time NWCA Scholar All-American after earning the honors at West Virginia last season. Schafer went 23-8 this season and qualified for the NCAA Championships after finishing third at the MAC Championships.
