The graduate student fell to the eventual champion, Tyler Klinsky of Rider in the opening round, but ran through his final five matches. After closing out Friday's competition with a pin at 2:53 over Zach Belverio of Buffalo, Schafer won his first match on Saturday 7-1 over Ben Monn of George Mason. He won his semifinals match 2-0 over Drew Davis of SIUE before defeating Blake West (Northern Illinois) with a pin at 5:27 in the third-place match. Schafer defeated Chris Vargo of Edinboro in the true second to claim one of the MAC's two automatic spots in the NCAA Championships.
Â
Rebuck won his first match at the MAC Championships with a 8-5 sudden victory over Magnus Biblia of Buffalo before Devon Dawson defeated Rebuck with a pin the second round. Rebuck came back Saturday with a 8-2 win over Bryan Caves of Central Michigan in the consolation semifinals before defeating John Meyers of Clarion 4-1 in the third-place match. SCHAFER'S CAREER
Jace Schafer (Fairport, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) made an immediate and significant impact in his lone season at Bloomsburg in 2025-26 after transferring from West Virginia, capping his career with one of the most productive seasons on the roster.
Â
Schafer went 23-8 overall and 14-7 in duals, leading the Huskies in wins while establishing himself as a consistent force at 125 pounds. His 23 victories marked a career-best season and highlighted his ability to deliver results across both tournament and dual competition.
Â
He was especially effective in generating bonus points, finishing the year with 15 bonus-point wins, including six technical falls, five pins, and four major decisions. That offensive production made him a key contributor in Bloomsburg's lineup, frequently swinging team momentum with dominant performances.
Â
Schafer's season peaked at the conference level, where he placed third at the MAC Championships and followed it by winning a true second-place match to secure an automatic NCAA qualification at 125 pounds. He carried that momentum into nationals, earning a spot in the NCAA Championship bracket.
Â
In just one season in maroon and gold, Schafer finished his Bloomsburg tenure as a national qualifier and one of the team's most reliable point-scorers. For his career, Schafer is 66-44 after spending his undergrad time at WVU. He has 34 bonus point wins, including 18 falls, nine major decisions, and seven tech falls. Schafer won the Big Red Invitational 125 pound bracket for the Huskies this season.
Â
REBUCK'S CAREER
Mason Rebuck (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) has put together a strong and steadily improving career for the Huskies, highlighted by a breakout 2025-26 season after moving up to heavyweight.
Â
Rebuck owns a 34-25 overall record through his first three seasons after beginning his career at 197 pounds before transitioning to 285. His 23 wins in 2025-26 mark a career high, improving from 8-13 in 2024-25 and representing one of the largest single-season jumps on the roster.
Â
In his first season at heavyweight, Rebuck has gone 23-8 overall and emerged as a consistent contributor in the lineup. His win total leads all upper weights and ranks among the team leaders, while his .700+ win percentage highlights his efficiency throughout the year.
Â
Rebuck has also produced steady bonus-point offense, using a mix of pins, tech falls, and major decisions to generate additional team points. His ability to secure wins in both tight decisions and bonus scenarios has made him a reliable option in duals and tournaments alike. Rebuck led the team with 54 team points earned for the season.
Action is set to get underway on Thursday, March 19 at the Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The first session is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. (ET).
