Huskies To Visit Lock Haven; Four Wrestlers Ranked

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University wrestling team will close out its regular season on Friday night when it travels to Lock Haven to face the Bald Eagles in an Eastern Wrestling League matchup. Start time is set for 7 p.m.
 
The Huskies, 15-7 on the season, are coming off an 18-15 loss to Binghamton last Thursday. A win for Bloomsburg over Lock Haven would be the 16th of the season and would tie for the second-most wins in a season in school history, last done back in 1978-79 under Roger Sanders. The school record is 17 wins by the 1989-90 Huskies, also coached by Roger Sanders.
 
Bloomsburg goes into the Lock Haven match ranked 14th in the latest NWMA (National Wrestling Media Association) NCAA Division I Mid-Major poll.  (Scroll down for this week's poll)
 
The Huskies also have four wrestlers ranked in various national polls. According to the Wrestling Report (WR).com rankings Frank Hickman (Castle Hayne, NC/E.A. Laney), at 157 lbs, leads the way ranked seventh in the country for Bloomsburg, while Mike Dessino (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) (174 lbs) and Richard Perry (Meriden, CT/Middletown) (197 lbs) are both ranked 27th. At 149 lbs Bryce Busler (Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley) is ranked 30th according to the Wrestling Report.
 
In the Intermat national top 20 poll, Hickman is eighth with Dessino ranked 19th.
 
On the season Hickman is 26-4 and is coming off a win over 10th-ranked Justin Lister of Binghamton.  Dessino is 26-8 o the season with a team-high 14 pins. Perry's 28 wins (28-9 overall) are a team-high, while Busler is 22-9 on the year.
 
Lock Haven goes into the match with a record of 4-15, 1-3 in the EWL. The Bald Eagles only ranked wrestler is Matt Bonson at 141 lbs who is 14-7 on the season.
 
A year ago the Huskies beat Lock Haven 25-12 at the Nelson Field House Sean Boylan (Seaville, NJ/St. Marks) (125 lbs) and Perry both winning by fall.

ALL-TIME SERIES
The Huskies trail in the all-time series with Lock Haven, 38-27. The Huskies though have won seven straight in the series. The 27 wins are the most for Bloomsburg over any active opponent.
 
DESSINO MOVING UP PIN LIST
Mike Dessino (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex)'s 14 pins this season are tied for sixth most in a year, while his 33 career falls are the fifth most in school history. Shortly Hitchcock is the all-time leader with 58 with Ed Hockenberry (1996-01) fourth on the list with 35.

Frank Hickman (Castle Hayne, NC/E.A. Laney) has won 70 of the 89 matches he has wrestled in his career giving him a team-best .786 career winning percentage.

TOUGH SCHEDULE
The Huskies seven losses as a team this season to nationally-ranked teams. Bloomsburg has lost to Maryland, Penn State, Penn, Pitt, Clarion, Edinboro and Binghamton.
