DAY ONE RESULTS
EDINBORO—The Bloomsburg University men's Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team finished third to highlight day one action at the 2012 PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Indoor Track Championships on Saturday at Edinboro University. As a team the Huskies are sixth with 14 points.
The Huskies started the day with the DMR team of
Kyle Phillips (Waynesboro/Waynesboro),
John Barnett (Chester Springs/Downingtown East),
Zach Eyer (Berwick/Berwick Area) and
Nick Libbi (West Chester, West Chester East) taking third in a school-record time of 10:20.20. The group broke the mark of 10:26.05 set back in 1993.
At the end of the day one the Huskies 4 x 800 team of Eyer,
Bryan Hennessey (Lower Gwynedd/Pennridge), Phillips and Libbi finished fourth in a school-record time of 7:57.83, breaking the old mark of 8:01.2 set 35 years ago.
In the men's 200-meter dash qualifying on Saturday the Huskies
Devin Barr (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) had the fourth-fastest qualifying time posting a mark of 22.27 seconds. The finals of the event will be held Sunday.
In the pole vault
Matt Stuck (Milton/Milton) finished sixth and broke his own school record by one centimeter with a mark of 4.46 meters (14'7 ½”).
Steve Grib had a solid first day in the heptathlon. His shot put (10.33 meters) and high jump (1.86 meters) efforts in the heptathlon were both personal records. After day one he finds himself in sixth place.
“I am ecstatic about the first day for the men,” said Empie. “Both relays achieved more than we could have imagined and Stuck placing sixth was great as well. We have plenty of meet left tomorrow and day two should provide more excitement.”
