Huskies Fall to Lock Haven in Lacrosse

BOX SCORE

LOCK HAVEN—The 15th-ranked Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team lost to 10th-ranked Lock Haven University 15-10 on Saturday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup.

Bloomsburg scored just 14 seconds into the game when Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) scored off a Maggie Canavan (Erdenheim/Springfield) assist. After Lock Haven tied the score with 27:14 left in the half, Samantha King (Elkton, MD/North East) needed just 11 seconds to score off the draw control to put the Huskies back on top 2-1.

The Lady Eagles then reeled off three straight goals to lead 4-2 before King scored her second goal of the game with Aubrey Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) getting the assist to make it 5-3 with 15:31 to go before half.

Later with Lock Haven holding an 8-5 lead, the Huskies got goals from Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor) and Carly Ball (Lansdale/North Penn) to close within 8-7 with 1:34 to go before the break. Lock Haven though closed out the half with two goals to lead 10-7 after 30 minutes of play.

Consecutive goals from Lock Haven to open the half pushed the Lady Eagles lead to 12-7. Bloomsburg came back with goals from Sam Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown) and Canavan to make it 12-9 with 13:30 to go. Lock Haven scored with 10:50 to go to make it a four-goal lead.

The Huskies got back to within three goals when King scored on a free position shot with 7:39 to play, but that would be as close as the Huskies would get. Lock Haven ended the game with two goals to win by five.

King finished with three goals for the Huskies, while Falk and Mazzie scored two each. The Huskies fall to 4-4, 2-2 in the PSAC and will host Mercyhurst on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
