BLOOMSBURG - Samantha King (Elkton, MD/North East) scored four goals to lead the Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team to a 16-6 win over Edinboro University on Friday in PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) action.

The Huskies scored two consecutive goals to start the game within 10 minutes of each other., putting them up 2-0. Sam Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown) would score an unassisted goal at 25:20 mark, while Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) scored the second goal off an assist from Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor) with 15 minutes to go. Edinboro came back to cut the lead to 2-1 with 11:09 left.

Falk scored her first goal and would put Bloomsburg up 4-1 after scoring two goals back-to-back with just under eight minutes left in the half. But Edinboro was able to come back and cut the Huskies lead to just one, after scoring two consecutive goals ending the half at 4-3.

In the second half the Fighting Scots would tie up the game at 4-4 with less than 30 seconds in. King got things going for the Huskies a minute later, scoring three consecutive goals. Mazzie would add an assist to King's third goal with 25:57 left to go, putting the Huskies at 7-3.

The Huskies would add four more straight goals to make it a eight goal edge, 11-3. Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon), Canavan, King, and Falk would each tally a goal, while Mazzie and Shifflet each recorded an assist. Edinboro would then add two more unassisted goals with just under 19 minutes left in the game.

Later with the Huskies up 11-5 Bloomsburg put the game out of reach with two more unassisted goals from Mazzie to make it 13-5. Edinboro was able to add a goal with 14:16 left, but the Huskies would add three straight goals to close the game out at 16-6.

King finished with four goals, while Mazzie and Falk each had three goals. Canavan, Bossert and Marissa Moley each added two a piece on the day. In goal Sara Bates (Wading River, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) made six saves, while Shelby Iezzi (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts) had two.

Bloomsburg, 7-7, 5-4 in the PSAC, and will host Slippery Rock at Sports Stadium on Saturday at 3 pm.
