BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team (9-7, 7-4 PSAC) clinched the sixth spot in the PSAC tournament as they downed East Stroudsburg (4-12, 2-9 PSAC), 19-9. With the win Bloomsburg will be making their sixth consecutive PSAC playoff appearance.
After trading pairs of goals, Bloomsburg's
Samantha King (Elkton, MD/North East) and
Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor) scored unassisted goals within a minute of each other to take a 4-2 lead with 18:14 to play in the first half. East Stroudsburg's Brandi Smith cut the lead to 4-3 but the Huskies responded with three unanswered goals to take a 7-3 lead.

Aubrey Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon), and King all registered goals.
East Stroudsburg's Sarah Ginn tallied a goal at the 10:55 mark to bring the score to 7-4. However, Bloomsburg would close out the first half by outscoring the Warriors 4-1. Freshman
Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor) accounted for two of Bloomsburg's final four goals and assisted on another. King and
Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) scored the other two goals as the Huskies took a 11-5 lead into the break.
Sam Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown) opened the second half with an unassisted goal just 29 seconds into the half, extending Bloomsburg's lead to 12-5. Sarah Ginn responded with two straight goals for the Warriors to cut the Husky lead to five.
From there, Bloomsburg blew the game wide open by holding the Warriors scoreless for over 21 minutes while notching seven unanswered goals to take a commanding 19-7 lead. During the seven goal stretch,
Lindsay Kupferschmidt (Royersford/Spring-Ford) and
Morgan Sherriff (Downingtown/Coatesville) tallied goals as did both Bossert twins, Mazzie and King.
The Warriors scored the final two goals of the game in the final minute of play but that would be it as the Huskies claimed a 19-9 win. Sarah Bates earned the win in today's game as she made seven saves in 42:27 of action.
Shelby Iezzi (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts) also saw time between the posts for the Huskies as she snuffed out five East Stroudsburg shots.
Falk led the Huskies attack with five points on three goals and two assists while King and Mazzie each scored four goals apiece.
Maggie Canavan (Erdenheim/Springfield) also chipped in four points as she scored one goal and assisted on three others. Kupferschmidt tallied one goal but controlled 10 draws, caused four turnovers and collected four groundballs. Her 10 draw controls is the most by any Bloomsburg player in the past 10 years.
Bloomsburg's win clinched a spot in the PSAC Championships. The Huskies will be the sixth seed and will travel to play in the third seed in the quarterfinals.
