ERIE—The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team dropped a 21-16 decision to Gannon University on Friday in PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) showdown.
Bloomsburg raced out to an early 3-0 in the first five minutes of play with
Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor) scoring just 36 seconds into the game. The Golden Knights rallied and tied the score with three goals in a span of 1:34 before the Huskies scored three consecutive goals of its own to go back on top 6-3. Morgan Sheriff,
Maggie Canavan (Erdenheim/Springfield) and Falk scored for the Huskies.
Gannon though came back and scored eight of the next nine goals to go out on top 11-7. Before the half the Huskies scored twice, the second time with just two seconds left, to trail by cut a pair of goals, 11-9, going to the break.
After a quick goal to start the second half for Gannon,
Samantha King (Elkton, MD/North East) scored twice and Falk added fourth goal of the game to cut tie the game at 12-12 with 26:15 to play.
After Gannon briefly regained the lead Bloomsburg's
Natalie Draham (Blue Bell/Wissahickon) tied the score with an unassisted goal with 18:02 to go.
The Golden Knights then took control of the game scoring six of the next seven goals to lead 19-14 with 5:14 left. Canavan and King each scored in the final 2:41 of the game, but it wasn't enough and the Huskies lost 21-16.
King scored five times to led Bloomsburg with Canavan and Falk each getting four goals. Bloomsburg drops to 4-6, 2-4 in the PSAC, while Gannon goes to 7-4, 5-1 in the PSAC. The Huskies host Dowling College on Tuesday in a non-conference matchup.
