Box Score BOX SCORE

BLOOMSBURG--Alexis Weber (Bear, DE/William Penn) recorded a hat-trick to lead the second-ranked Bloomsburg field hockey team to a 6-2 victory over the Mercyhurst Lakers Saturday afternoon at Sports Stadium.

Bloomsburg went on the attack early, totaling 10 shots and allowing none in the first 18:48 of the game. The Huskies finally broke through when Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) flicked the ball over the head of Mercyhurst's Jess Wess for the first of her two goals.  Weber would add to the lead just a few minutes later with the first of her three goals.

The team entered halftime with a 2-0 lead, having allowed just two shots in the half.

In the second half, it took less than three minutes for Mercyhurst to cut into the Bloomsburg lead as Kelsey Lovelace took a pass from Cayla Slade and scored her first goal of the season.

The Huskies increased their lead when Cassie DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) scored her third goal of the season off an assist by Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) to put the team up 3-0.

After Merychurst's Meghan Smith was given a yellow card, the Huskies took advantage of the situation and scored three goals in the next 3:01 to seal the victory.  Alexis Weber (Bear, DE/William Penn) scored twice in a span of 26 seconds, and after allowing Meghan Smith of Mercyhurst to score, Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) came right back with her ninth goal of the year.

The Lakers totaled just 11 shots in the game to the Huskies' 36.  Megan Eppley (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) earned the win for Bloomsburg, making three saves and allowing two goals in 70 minutes of action.  Jess Wess made 24 saves for Mercyhurst.  Bloomsburg tallied 19 penalty corners compared to just nine for the Lakers.

With the win, the Huskies improve to 6-1 on the year, while Mercyhurst falls to 2-4.

Bloomsburg's next game will be Wednesday, Sept. 19th at Millersville starting at 4:00 P.M.
