MATCH NOTES

BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University wrestling  travels west for two EWL (Eastern Wrestling League) matchups. The Huskies take on Cleveland State on Saturday and will face Clarion on Sunday. Start time for Cleveland State is 1 p.m. with Clarion being a 2 p.m. start on Sunday.

The Huskies, ranked 14th in the latest USA Today/NWCA/AWN coaches poll, won their sixth straight match last Friday with an 19-18 (on criteria) victory over then 15th-ranked Edinboro. The Huskies rallied from a 15-0 deficit to tie the match at 18-all when Justin Grant (Easton/Easton) scored a 9-4 win at 285 pounds. The Huskies then won on the third criteria (total match points).

Cleveland State is 3-5, 0-3 EWL, on the year after falling to Edinboro last Saturday, 37-3. Clarion is 2-6, 0-2 EWL, after losing to Kent State, 29-10 last weekend. (Clarion record does include Friday match with Lock Haven).

The Huskies beat Cleveland State a year ago 34-7 and have now won seven straight matches over the Vikings. The Huskies lead the all-time series 20-11-3. A year ago the Huskies lost to Clarion 22-18 with the Golden Eagles leading in the all-time series 21-20-2.
