SHIPPENSBURG—The Bloomsburg University field hockey team saw its season come to a close with tough, 1-0, loss to number one ranked Shippensburg University in the semi-finals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) playoffs on Friday at Shippensburg.

Shippensburg had the early edge in the game getting off six shots in the first 17 minutes, but Huskies goalie
Megan Eppley (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) came up with six saves to keep the game scoreless.

The Huskies first scoring chance came when
Brittany Mathews (Reedsville/Indian Valley) was awarded a penalty stroke with 15:42 to play in the half. However, Shippensburg goalie Carenna Neely came up with a diving save with the ball being deflected off her stick.

Shippensburg came back and pressured the Huskies getting three penalty corner chances in a four-minute stretch. The first two corners resulted in no shots for the Raiders. On the third attempt, though, Lauren Taylor punched in her 15th goal on a shot from left of the cage. On the play Taylor started the corner and got the ball back near the end line and put it in with a quick shot.

In the second half the Huskies got four shots off, but Neely came up with three saves, while Taylor Fisher had a defensive save. Bloomsburg did have back-to-back penalty corner chances with just 11 minutes to play, but
Nikki Gattone (Reading/Muhlenberg)'s shot on the second attempt was deflected away.

With the loss the Huskies end the season with a record 13-7, while Shippensburg goes to 18-0.
