GAFFNEY, SC—The 15th-ranked Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team lost to 3rd-ranked Limestone College, 13-8, on Wednesday.
Limestone took the early lead in the game scoring just 33 seconds into play. The Huskies answered minute and-a-half later when
Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor) scored off a
Kelsey Metzler (Schwenksville/Perkiomen Valley) assist. The teams then traded goals over the next five minutes before the Huskies Morgan Sheriff scored back-to-back goals, 30 seconds apart, to put Bloomsburg on top 4-3.
After Limestone tied the score at 4-4, Sheriff scored her third consecutive goal to put Bloomsburg back on top 5-4 with 15:38 to play with Falk getting the assist on the play. The Saints rallied though and closed out the half with the three straight goals to lead 7-5 at the break.
Falk started the second half with a goal for the Huskies to make it a 7-6 game, but Limestone scored the next three goals to go on top 10-6. Bloomsburg came back with back-to-back goals from
Maggie Canavan (Erdenheim/Springfield) and
Sam Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown) to close the gap to 10-8 with 6:42 to go.
But the Huskies could get no closer as Limestone scored the final three goals of the game to win 13-8.
Sheriff finished with three goals for the Huskies with Falk getting two assists. Limestone, 8-1 on the season, was led by Sylvia Queener with three goals.
Bloomsburg, 2-2, will host LIU Post on Sunday at 11 a.m.
