Huskies Comeback Falls Short to the Lakers

ERIE—The #13 Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team was defeated 11-10 by a last second goal from #15 Mercyhurst in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup in Erie, Pa. 
 
Bloomsburg's Patrice Coleman (Media/Penncrest ) scored a goal with 11.2 seconds left in regulation to tie the score up 10-10.  However, Mercyhurst won the draw control and scored with 2.1 seconds left to pull out the win.
 
The Huskies came back from a 10-5 deficit with 16:49 left in the game to challenge the Lakers five goal lead.
 
Sam Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown) started the comeback to make the score 10-5 with a Lakers advantage.  Coleman scored back to back goals for the Huskies to bring the Huskies within two with 6:49 left in the game.  Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor) found the back of the net with just less than four minutes to play to push the score to 10-9.
 
With 11.2 seconds left Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) passed the ball to Coleman who found the back of the net and tied the game at 10-10.
 
Mercyhurst won the following draw control and Kayla Minner scored the game winning goal with 2.1 seconds left for a final of 11-10. 
 
To start the game the Lakers scored 30 seconds into the first half to put them up 1-0.
 
Bloomsburg responded with a 3-0 run two minutes later when Marisa Moley (Phoenixville/Spring-Ford) found Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) in front of the net to tie the game up at 1-1.  Moley assisted Mazzie then Maggie Canavan (Erdenheim/Springfield) scored on a free position to make the score 3-1 with 23:47 left in first half. 
 
Mercyhurst then went on a 5-0 run to give them a 7-4 advantage 13 minutes left in the half.
 
Coleman then scored for the Huskies with just under seven minutes in the first half to put Bloomsburg back in the game 7-5.
 
Coleman finished at the game with four goals and Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) added two.  Moley led the team in assists with two.
 
Despite the loss Bloomsburg dominated in draw controls holding a 14-9 advantage.  The Huskies also had an advantage in groundballs, 16-15, and shots, 25-21.
 
The Huskies move to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC.  They host  Kutztown Tuesday, April 2 at 4 p.m.
