Women's Lacrosse Rolls Over Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK—The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team defeated Slippery Rock 15-3 Saturday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup.

Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor) scored the first goal of the game 50 seconds in and assisted on the next goal to Marisa Moley (Phoenixville/Spring-Ford) two minutes later to go up 2-0.  The Rock scored with 24 minutes left in the first half to bring the game within one at 2-1.

Kelsey Metzler (Schwenksville/Perkiomen Valley) assisted Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) at the 19 minute mark followed by an assisted goal by Sam Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown) from Moley to give Bloomsburg a 4-1 edge.

Slippery Rock scored its final goal of the half at the 14:00 mark.  Bloomsburg responded with a 4-0 run to finish out the half.  Maggie Canavan (Erdenheim/Springfield) scored three goals in a row the third assisted by Metzler.  Bossert scored with 44 seconds left on a free position to put the Huskies ahead 8-2.

To start of the second half Metzler passed to Mazzie who beat the goalie four minutes into the half.  The Rock scored their last goal of the game at the 23:00 mark to shorten the Huskies lead to 9-3.
Bloomsburg finished the game with a six-goal run to earn the 15-3 victory.  Moley scored unassisted then Metzler assisted Moley at 17:59.  Morgan Sherriff (Downingtown/Coatesville) found the back of the net followed by Falk scoring assisted by Grace Malizia (Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley).

Moley scored at the six minute mark unassisted, then Canavan scored her fourth off a pass from Moley.

Canavan finished with four goals, while Moley and Mazzie each scored three times. Kelsey Metzler (Schwenksville/Perkiomen Valley) had four assists, while Moley added two. Sara Bates (Wading River, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) had four saves and Kate Stricker (Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross) tallied one save in net for Bloomsburg.

In the victory Bloomsburg held an advantage in shots, 40-14, and in draw controls, 13-7.

The Huskies, 7-7, 5-4 in the PSAC, travel to East Stroudsburg Tuesday, April 23 and host Millersville Saturday, April 27 in their senior game at 1 p.m.
