LOCK HAVEN—The fifth-seeded Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team lost 6-5 to top-seeded Lock Haven in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) semifinals Friday afternoon.

The first 30 minutes was a defensive battle with limited shots for either team. The Huskies finally broke through and scored the only goal in the first half of the game when Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor) had an unassisted goal at the 16:45 mark of the first half.  The last time Bloomsburg held a team scoreless in the first half was against West Virginia Wesleyan in 2012 when it led 17-0 against the Bobcats.

In the first half Bloomsburg goalie Sara Bates (Wading River, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) made four huge saves and caused two turnovers to maintain the shutout.

In the second half the Huskies opened a 4-0 lead with 25 minutes left only to see the Lady Eagles rally for the win.

Sam Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown) started off the scoring run for the Huskies in the second half off a free position shot with 28:11 on the clock.  Falk scored  on a free position followed by another free position by Mazzie within two minutes to go up 4-0 on the Lady Eagles.

Lock Haven scored their first goal of the game with 22 minutes left in the game.  They scored another goal five minutes later to bring the score to 4-2.

Bloomsburg's Falk scored her third goal of the game unassisted at the 15 minute mark for the Huskies final goal of the game.  The Lady Eagles went on a 4-0 run to finish out the game and win 6-5.

With 53 seconds left in the game Bloomsburg had a chance to tie the game up when both teams were called offsides and Bloomsburg won the toss from a false start on Lock Haven.  Falk drove to goal but shot just high. Lock Haven gained possession and was able to run out the clock without the Huskies being able to get off another show.

Falk and Mazzie were the only goal scorers in the game.  Falk finished with a hat-trick and Mazzie added two goals.  Bates finished with six saves, two caused turnovers, and three groundballs.  Maggie Canavan (Erdenheim/Springfield) led the Huskies in draw controls with four.

Bloomsburg, the 2012 PSAC champions, finished the season at 10-8.
