BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University had a total of 115 student-athletes earn Scholar-Athlete recognition by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) for the 2012-13 school year.
Among the Huskies on the list are
Bryce Shaffer (Gettysburg/Gettysburg) from men's soccer who earned first team Academic All-American for the second straight year by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America); Vick Davis from women's cross country and track and field who was second team Academic All-American by CoSIDA; and
Aubrey Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) from the women's lacrosse who a PSAC Champion Scholar for the second straight year at the PSAC women's lacrosse championships.
Overall the 16 institutions of the PSAC combined to set a new record of 2,200 scholar athletes during the 2012-13 academic year, breaking the previous mark of 2,187 set a year ago.
In order to earn scholar-athlete recognition, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or above. The 2,200 total represents 35% of the reported 6,307 student-athletes participating in the conference, the same percentage as a year ago and the fifth straight year the league has registered at least 30%.
