LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ—The 22nd-ranked (WrestlingReport.com) Bloomsburg University wrestling team fell to Rider University, 20-16, on Friday night in an Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) matchup. The loss snapped an eight-match EWL winning streak for the Huskies dating back to the 2011-12 season.

The Broncs jumped out to an early 6-0 lead getting wins at 125 and 133 pounds. Bloomsburg's
Matt Rappo (Holland/Council Rock South) won his 20
th match of the year at 141 pounds getting a win by fall in just 1:28 that tied the score at 6-6.

Rider won the next two weights, including a win by technical fall at 149 pounds, to go on top 14-6.

The Huskies
Josh Veltre (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia), ranked 15th at 165 pounds, closed the gap for Bloomsburg getting a 2-0 win making it 14-9. Rider came back with wins at 174 and 184 pounds to go up 20-9.

Bloomsburg closed out the match with wins from fourth-ranked
Richard Perry (Meriden, CT/Middletown) and 14th-ranked
Justin Grant (Easton/Easton). Perry won his 19th straight match of the season with a 21-7 win by major decision, while Grant won 4-1. Perry improved his record to 21-1 on the season, while Grant is now 21-4 on the year.

The Huskies are now 4-5, 1-1 in the EWL, while Rider improves to 9-5, 3-1 in the EWL. Bloomsburg will be back in action on Sunday hosting Hofstra at 1 p.m. at the Nelson Field House.

NOTES: Perry is now just two wins shy of 100 for his career...Bloomsburg will be wrestling at home for just the second time this season when it hosts Hofstra on Sunday...Rider is new to the EWL this season joining George Mason as new members of the league...The win for Rider was the 400th for Broncs head coach Gary Taylor who is just the second active wrestling coach to compile 400 wins at a Division I program.
