LAST MEETINGBloomsburg dropped to West Chester 2-0 earlier this season. West Chester got on the board first in the 25th minute when Mary Spisak carried the ball into the circle and flicked a shot over the head of Bloomsburg goalie Lindsey Cassel for a 1-0 lead. Bloomsburg had two scoring attempts late in the half. The first was a shot by
Laura Gerhard (Catasauqua/Catasauqua) with less than five minutes to go, but her shot went wide left. Then with just 12 seconds to play in the half
Felicia Domenici (Kunkletown/Pleasant Valley) had a shot attempt go wide right. The Golden Rams made it 2-0 in the 44th minute when Hannah Davies took a pass from Dayle Paustian from the far post and tipped it in. Cassel made three saves for the Huskies.
SCOUTING WEST CHESTERWest Chester (11-2, 8-1 PSAC) moved into first place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference standings ahead of top-ranked Millersville (11-2, 8-2) after a 2-1 overtime win. For 70 minutes, the two national powers only traded penalty stroke goals – one in each half – which meant extra time was necessary to decide the match. Eight minutes into the first OT period, West Chester was awarded back-to-back penalty corners. The second opportunity was the difference in the game as Dayle Paustian lined up a blast from just inside the circle on the far side. Her shot was tipped in front by Hannah Davies and sailed over the shoulder of Millersville goalkeeper Lauren Sotzin (11-2) into the top left-hand corner of the goal.
LAST TIME OUT FOR BLOOMSBURGThe Huskies fell to Slippery Rock in overtime, 2-1 on Wednesday. Bloomsburg got on the board first, striking in the 19th minute on the first goal of the season from Samantha Peters. Peters poked in a shot off a deflection fromÂ
Whitney Kowski (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Regional)Â from the right side of the circle who fired in a cross which Peters put into the cage for the early advantage. The Rock scored the equalizer at the 30:07 mark. In the overtime the Rock scored in the eighth minute to get the win.
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) made two saves for Bloomsburg while Carlee DuMars turned away three shots for the Rock.
