BLOOMSBURG—
Charles Haigler (Charles Town, WV/Hargrave Military Academy) scored a game-high 24 points and
Jon Riles (Philadelphia/Academy of the New Church) added 21 to help the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team rally for a 70-68 overtime win over Adelphi University on Saturday night.
Â
The Huskies trailed by 14 points, 55-41, with 8:55 to go after Greg Davis hit a jumper for the Panthers. Bloomsburg though answered with 15-3 run to close the gap to 58-56 with 2:33 to go. Haigler led the rally scoring 10 of the team's 15 points.
Â
With the Panthers up by two points Duane Morgan hit one of two free throws to give AU a 59-56 lead with 1:29 to go. On the miss the Huskies came down and got a dunk from
Moustapha Noumbissi (Upper Darby/Delaware County Christian School) on a pass from Riles to make it a 59-58 game.
Â
Adelphi pushed the lead back to three when Morgan hit both free throws after being fouled going to the basket making it 61-58 with 28 seconds to play in regulation. After a three-point miss by
Anthony McKie (Blue Bell/Plymouth Whitemarsh) the ball went out of bounds off an Adelphi player giving the Huskies life. On the inbounds play Riles dribbled out front before driving the lane and passing to wide-open McKie who drained a three-pointer with three seconds left to tie the game. Adelphi's long three-point attempt to win the game went off the mark sending the game to overtime.
