INDIANA, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's swim team defeated nationally-ranked Gannon, 206-197 and dropped a 281-102 decision to host IUP at the Crimson Hawk Dual Challenge which wrapped up two days of competition on Saturday.
In the 200 yard freestyle, the Huskies finished second and third with
Ashley Dix (Schwenksville/Perkiomen Valley) taking second at 2:01.20 and teammate
Kristina Halner (Chalfont/Archbishop Wood) coming in third at 2:01.64. Halner also posted a PSAC time of 1:59.06 in the 200 yard freestyle time trial.
The Huskies 800 yard freestryle relay team of
Alison Bradway (Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca),
Meghan Gallagher (Aston/Sun Valley),
Brooke Gilson (Whitehall/Whitehall) and Dix also were second with their time of 8:09.33. The 400 yard freestyle relay squad of Brooker, Dix, Gallagher and
Jenna Yohey (Berwick/Berwick) were also second at 3:46.61.
Kaci McIlmoyle (Landenberg/Avon Grove) recorded a PSAC qualifying time of 2:14.58 in the 200 yard butterfly with her third place finish.
Among the other top performances for the Huskies women were: McIlmoyle, who scored a third place finish in the 100 yard butterfly with her time of 1:02.23;
Rachel Brooker (Stevens/Cocalico ) finishing third in the 100 yard backstroke at 1:02.17 and in the 200 yard backstroke at 2:14.45. Gallagher was third in the 100 yard free at 55.83 and
Jess Quittner (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts) finished fourth in the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:12.11.
Gannon entered the week ranked No. 25 in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25.
The Huskies will now look toward the PSAC Championships scheduled for Feb. 19-23 in York.
