ERIE, Pa. — The Bloomsburg women's swimming team turned in a commanding performance Friday evening, defeating Penn State Behrend, 156-66, behind 10 individual event victories and a sweep of the two relay events.
Freshman Megan Luddecke (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro Horsham) highlighted the Huskies' performance with a pair of individual victories, while Bloomsburg showcased its depth across the freestyle, butterfly and breaststroke events.
Luddecke continued her impressive opening collegiate campaign by winning the 200-yard individual medley in 2:10.05, finishing more than four seconds ahead of Penn State Behrend's Kallie Smith (2:14.62). She followed with another victory in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:06.59 to lead a Bloomsburg sweep of the top three positions. Olivia Igou (Flourtown, Pa./Springfield Township) finished second in 1:09.53, while Avery Wenzel (Reading, Pa./Wilson) placed third in 1:10.10.
Junior Sid Beers paced the Huskies in the 200-yard freestyle, capturing first place in 1:59.02. Senior Morgan Holmes (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) followed closely in second at 1:59.63, while Ella Dittmar (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) finished fourth overall in 2:01.16.
Bloomsburg controlled the distance freestyle events, beginning with sophomore Maddie Fletcher's (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington County) victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Fletcher posted an 11:07.98 to lead a sweep of the top four positions, followed by Grace McBlain (Aldan, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) (11:15.70), Ashley Martin (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) (11:22.92) and Saryn McCullough (Newark, De./Newark Charter) (11:40.44).

The Huskies continued their success in the sprint freestyle events as senior Vanesa Valli (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.36 seconds, with Sarah Pickel (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) taking second in 26.16. Junior Samantha Linsey (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) claimed the 100-yard freestyle in 53.93, leading another Bloomsburg sweep of the top three positions. Bloomsburg opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay as Holmes, Keefer, Luddecke and Igou combined for a time of 1:50.70. The Huskies' second relay team of Victoria Evans (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Sussex Academ), Wenzel, Ella Stillwagon (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) and Pickel finished third in 1:54.13.
The Huskies closed the evening with another relay victory as Linsey, Keefer, Valli and Beers combined to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:40.41, holding off Penn State Behrend's top quartet by 0.55 seconds.
Bloomsburg finished the meet with victories in 12 of the 13 swimming events, including both relays, while demonstrating depth with multiple top-three finishes throughout the competition.
The victory marked Bloomsburg's third dual-meet win of the season following its season-opening victories over Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg.
Several performances also added to the Huskies' collection of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship qualifying marks. Luddecke's winning times in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, Beers' 200 freestyle, Linsey's 100 freestyle and Fletcher's 1,000 freestyle were among the efforts inside the conference standards used earlier this fall. Luddecke entered Friday's meet as the reigning PSAC Swimmer of the Week after winning the 100 and 200 freestyle and anchoring the victorious 400 freestyle relay against West Chester on Oct. 16.
The Huskies return to competition Saturday at Edinboro starting at 10:00 a.m.
